Predators

So far we've looked at two page takeovers, one that didn't present itself as an ad and another which was clearly an advertisement but didn't have the same strong pull as the first.

Now I've decided to take a look at an expandable big box ad for

http://mx.mediamindspain.com/depredador/depredador.html

It's a rollover ad with a click option to start the game. In the beginning it doesn't seem as engaging as the previous two ads and doesn't have as large as a presence as there are two others ads on the page for a different product.

However, once you roll over, you have the option to play a game which is similar to shooting games that are fairly popular right now, tying in the content of what they are trying to sell (a movie about killing alien predators) with the ad itself.

This engages the consumer more than the previous ads and regardless of whether you win or lose it ends with a call to action although the words in the call to action have been altered accordingly. And since the alien runs across the screen and is all over the home page, it's similar to a take over ad in a way.

The close and sound button are clearly visible at the top right hand corner of the ad itself.
